If you’re getting the BassBlaster for the first time it’s because a bud signed you up!
– KVD talkin’ ’bout the HydroWave magical box o’ fish sounds.
Chew on that statement VERY carefully. Dude will not waste time with stuff he doesn’t feel gives him an advantage, and on the flip side if he had even a tiny doubt that it wasn’t an advantage he wouldn’t use one.
I’ve never used one but have talked to Elites who have it on their boats and they all have stories about how it’s spooky sometimes. Check it on TackleWarehouse.
You sensitive types: KIDDING on that last one.
LUKE PLEASE CLOSE YOUR EYES NOW.
– Comment to a B.A.S.S. FB post about the Toledo Bend Elite. Cracked me up.
Bowes is like:
> Seaguar AbrazX Fluorocarbon. It was “wow.” I dragged the same rig for hours across the bottom on 10-lb AbrazX and never got cut off by zebras or rocks. Incredibly I didn’t even have any line abrasion. Blown away by that line.
> My new fave combo, a Kistler Magnesium 2 rod (7′ medium-heavy) with a Shimano Curado 70 reel. Everyone else was using spinning rods, and I was casting FARTHER and setting the hook no prob. Frickin’ love it!
Fished a 4″ Strike King Ocho (blue craw — cool color) wacky-rigged on a 3/8-oz Strike King Tour Grade Tube Jighead. Head choice and other deets at the link.

1. LA: Dylan Poche tribute tourney.
His mom said:
> “Not only was Dylan a great fisherman, but Dylan was a great fisher of men. He put God first in everything, telling people and bringing people to Christ.”
Super cool. Don’t get it when good people go young, but don’t think that’s for us to get.
2. Vid: Swindle’s boat hurdling waves on T-Bend.
And here he is talkin’ an MLFer win.
3. AL: Boyd Duckett opens marine dealership.
Because he doesn’t have anything else going on?? Duckett rods, Duckett reels, Duckett fishing, MLFers, Elite Series, Boyd’s Taco House and Fitness and Bowling, etc.
Here’s how Boyd — a HS dropout — made his millions. #hardwork
4. New YUM Pulse at TackleWarehouse.com.
In stock, ready to rock. As famously used by Jason Christie at the Bassin’master Classic.
…lead to Flippin police chief stepping down…I think? Article not real clear.
8. TN: Houstin Cty Bass Club fishing since ’75.
#stout
9. CA: Dude catches 2 tuna from 17′ Ranger.
Guessing the carpet is pretty nasty now — did he land it with a machete??
If this doesn’t somehow play into his bassin’ world domination I’ll be shocked…lol.

Farm ponds a great place for largemouth bass
What?? When did this happen? Does it have to be an alpaca farm or…?
Tip of the Day
On Bassmaster.com. Never been a popper fan but the loop knot tip might sway me — and I’m supposed to fish with Zell soon so that should help:
> Because the profile of a walking bait may be too large for certain situations, I’ll sometimes drop down to a standard-sized popper.
> …when bass are chasing shad or some other type of forage fish on the surface, I’ll usually start with a brisk retrieve – sliding and popping the lure steadily through what I believe are the highest-percentage areas. …can also provoke fish that aren’t in the mood.
> On other occasions, I may work a popper more slowly, much like a walking bait. In fact, by tying a loop knot, you can get some poppers to walk from side to side. Their gait is obviously less, but they can still sashay enough to make fish mad, and that can generate strikes.
> When less action is best, I’ll pause a popper next to the target and let it bob. You’d be surprised how many strikes this can produce. [Do we eat a sandwich, return some texts, or what??]
As a Rapala guy Bernie likes the Rapala Skitter Pop.
Quote of the Day
It’s on my calendar til I’m dead.
– Mark Davis, NOT the Elite pro but the host of the salty show BigWater Adventures, talkin’ ’bout hittin’ the Niagara River area first week of May. Dude’s been doing it since ’96…and I am jealous about that.
Inspired by his statement and his commitment. What can’t-miss fishin’ dates are on your calendar? I got none! Nada! Zilch.

Mafia dad trying to sell boat of N.J. fisherman whose video went viral.
Yep, boys and girls, there really are Italian Mafia here in Jersey. Wonder if it has anything to do with the Bass Mafia?
