Today's Top 4

1. Swimbait win at Grand??

FLW Rayovac at Grand Lake, OK, interestin' pattern:

> Bill Tervin caught his fish on a Reaction Innovations Little Dipper swimbait (sprayed grass) Texas-rigged with a light bullet weight.

> “I was swimming the bait in 1-2', bouncing it off rocks… It would skim across the tops of a lot of the rocks and they would just crush it.”

> Tervin found most of his fish on those transitional banks outside of spawning coves.

Rest of the top 5 fished jigs and cranks.

2. I was flipping with a 5/0 Mister Twister Keeper Hook and the hooks were bending out on me.

Gary Klein talkin' 'bout his first year fishing B.A.S.S. when he mighta coulda won AOY if that hadn't kept happenin'. More:

> That first year Klein was not only the Rookie of the Year [which didn't exist yet], but he also missed the Angler of the Year award by merely a pound to Roland Martin.

> “The reason I didn’t win the AOY award that year [1979] was because the advancement of equipment wasn’t keeping up with me."

> "Don’t get me wrong, that was the best flipping hook at the time but I was bending hooks on 4- and 5-pounders, any of which would have won me the AOY title. I should have cake-walked the title that year."

3. 21-07 wins Dale Hollow BFL.

Here cuz I'm assuming those were smallies, and if so: stout!

> Winner Mitchell Major: “I started out throwing an umbrella rig because I didn’t want to get beat on it again. But I came to a laydown and picked up a jig and caught a 4-pounder. Then I moved a little way down the bank and did it again.”

> Major said all the fish he weighed in came on a 3/8-ounce D&L Tackle jig in the Cumberland Craw color.

> “Every fish that I weighed in came on the jig. I was catching them on laydown logs in pockets off of Wolf River."

4. Woo really had a big impact on me.

– Elite rookie and FLW vet Jake the Snake Powroznik on Woo Daves…but the article never says what that impact was – hilarious!
