Today's Top 5

Sorry y'all, got a last-minute offer to go fishin' yesterday, so I went. BassBlaster today instead. Go fish!

1. Facebook Hack.

The Hack Attack is finally on Facebook, here. Blow it up!

Think the timing is not a koinkydink….

2. Skeet's bro Jimmy goin' pro.

On the FLW Tour that is. Kids are in college so he's chasin' basses. Reminds me of this little-known Van Halen tune.

> “I’ve won 13 boats. I’ve won nine pro-ams and been the angler of the year on various circuits four different times, and I just went over a million dollars in career earnings.”

A million frickin' dollars?? Why on earth would you change anything?? Anyhow, when Jimmy's best bud found out he had thisahere reaction:

3. I've been at dinner a couple of times and I've wondered if a tournament was going to break out and I was going to need to have my jersey.

Ish Monroe talkin' 'bout the "I got a sublimated jersey so I'm a pro" bassin' syndrome.

> "You look at any other sport and you don't have people running around pretending they're something that they're not. You don't see a bunch of people in NASCAR jumpsuits, but people seem to do that with bass fishing."

Yo Ish, what about these dudes:

4. Check these sick handpours!

Nice!

5. How to tell if you were punched…

…by Randy Howell:

Reminds me of the time Randy and I were arrested once down in Tijuana…. Hahaha no way…I wasn't there!

[For peeps who believes everything they reads, THAT WAS A JOKE because the Howeller is squeakly clean.]

Congrats to Randy on his new Classic ring.

News

1. 2015 Elite schedule out.

Guess Justin Lucas likes it:

BassFan reported that the KY Lake BASSFest conflicts with the Chickamauga FLW.

2. Billy Mac gets Buck.

FLWer Billy McDonald gets Buck Knives.

3. AR: Bull/Norfork cleanup on Sat.

4. PA: More iffy Susquehanna news.

> “Since 2011 the Commonwealth has invested upwards of 2.7 billion dollars in improving the water quality of the Susquehanna River,” said Abruzzo. [Ah yes, govts spending tons o' jack on stuff always = good results! lol]

> …studies that look at emerging contaminants such as human waste with traces of birth control and other medications. “There is no treatment for these pollutants…."

5. WA: 100 smallies/day at Banks?

6. LA: Girl electrocuted by boat lift short.

Dang it. Maybe have yours checked if you have one.

Not Bass But Important

1. US EPA wants to take over…

…management of ALL U.S. waters. Incredible, true, scary – since the US govt is already shutting down parts of saltwater to fishing. Makes me think of the F word:

2. Group wants no records for some fish.

Threatened and endangered ones but:

> IGFA disputes that claim and is rejecting the call to stop awarding records. Most (88%) of the species identified as threatened by the study were listed only within the past 20 years, according to a response written by IGFA Conservation Director Jason Schratwieser. Since those listings…IGFA reports anglers have submitted only 15 All-Tackle record applications for the threatened species.

Lookit the giant crowd that buys this crap!

Tip of the Day

Aaron Martens: Spinning line size.

> Martens relies on two types of line with spinning gear: Sunline FC Sniper fluorocarbon in 5, 6, 7, 8 lb; and 10-lb Sunline FX1 braid.

> "By far, I use 7 lb test the most on tour. I can apply more power and use a more powerful rod with 7 lb test than 6 – and I get a better lure action and presentation with 7 versus 8 lb test.”

> “I use 8 lb a lot in spring when the fish are strong and getting ready to spawn until they’re just off the beds."

> He tends to use 5 and 6 lb more in super clear water because he gets a little bit more natural presentation with the 5 or 6 lb Sunline FC Sniper if it is a really clear lake and the fish are difficult to catch due to a cold front or angler pressure.

> “A lot of times when I find I need to drop down to lighter 5 or 6 lb test, it has nothing to do with line visibility or fish seeing the line. It has everything to do with maximizing the action of the bait and presenting it right – and that’s where spinning gear becomes absolutely necessary…."

Do not doubt the A-A-Ron.

Quote of the Day

I really don't want to say that.

– Greg Hackney talkin' 'bout not wanting to say publicly how he uses BassGold.com. It's interesting!

RE: Skeet’s bro Jimmy goin’ pro.

I had the pleasure of fishing an FLW Open on the Columbia River with Jimmy one day as his co-angler. He is a total professional on all levels. I wish him well.
