Today's Top 2
Let's give today to the ladies. Sometimes (often?) they don't get enough love in bassin'. Today, at least, that's not the case.
Whoa. This hit me hard because I didn't know how sick she was…so it was a surprise. Maybe you're in the same boat, maybe not, but know this: Penny was a pioneer in women's bassin', a darn good angler and just plain loved it. I didn't know her well, but for sure will miss her.

2. Lady angler gives up championship spot.
Cool story:
> Veteran TN angler Jenny Nevans [pictured] fished hard during the four Lady Bass Anglers Association (LBAA) qualifying tournaments. She earned her berth to the 2012 Lady Bass Classic on Guntersville Oct. 11-13. However….
> "I was thinking about how difficult it was going to be for me to get to practice because of a pressing family commitment, along with lots of other things” Nevans said. “I was thinking about how I don't even have a boat to fish out of because I sold my Legend earlier this year – even though I had planned to borrow my partner’s boat."
> “When I saw that Karen [Elkins] was 13th on the list [they take the top 12], my heart sank. she has been a great friend for many years and with all her hard work and accomplishments it did not seem fair that she couldn't go to the classic."
> "I did not fish all year to give away my spot and I didn’t really want to, but I knew in my heart I should give Karen my spot. I knew God was calling me to be a joyous giver. Sometimes we can't understand why God puts us on the path we are on, we just have to have faith He knows best.”
> "She was strong in her choice to step down and I was strong enough to accept the challenge,” Elkins said.

Penny Berryman: buzzbaitin' tips.
She give a couple of good basic pointers. I like the ones about how to slow the bait down.

Quote of the Day
I'm going for a victory like the 50 other guys here. If I catch one fish or no fish, I'll walk on stage with my chin up and smile and wave to everybody and enjoy the greatest day of my life.
