Today's Top 4

1. This glove could make you KVD!

Well…maybe sorta. New glove thingy invention sends 'lectrical impulses to your fingers, then comes muscle memory and "wala" you are burning up reel gears like KVD:

> What started as a wearable experiment for the Georgia Tech professor could possibly make anyone a master at guitar, piano, Braille or even dance steps at superhuman speed.

> That repetitive buzz from the device infuses a kind of muscle memory that, in theory, can really cut your time for learning things….

Here's the guy who invented it, been WEARING computers for 20 years – check the old-school phone and computer:

2. HydroWave or…trolling motor?

Stickin' wif tech, word is the HydroWave bait-sounds unit will have some new tones soon – "Bream Kiss, Bream Bed, Active Pads and…a few frog sounds…It's crazy how loud frog sounds are from under water."

But who needs a HydroWave when ya got the new Minny Kota Fortrex??

This the future – props with different sounds? Hmmmm.

3. Beware of fish nuts.

Wish I was making this up but not:

> “The potential amount of cruelty we're inflicting is mind-boggling,” says fish biologist Culum Brown, an assistant professor at Macquarie University in Australia. “People need to have a greater appreciation of how smart fish are.

> "Just because we're ignorant is no excuse to treat another animal poorly. All the evidence suggests that they're just as sophisticated as other vertebrates.”

Hey – we KNOW how smart they are…sometimes. We're smarter than them and want to keep it that way, but you, Colum Brown, ain't helpin'!

4. Niggemeyer says no to donuts.

From James' Facebook page:

> Chef at Tim Horton's donut shop offered me ALL the donuts in the glass case in trade for my Ranger/Yamaha boat this morning. Said he could convince management that it was a good deal. As much as I like donuts I didn't take his offer.

Dude! Were the donuts hot??

Tip of the Day

Ott DeFoe: 2 summer areas.

> Once DeFoe has indentified that the bass are in a summertime pattern, he narrows his search down to…the main lake or the very back end of the lake where there's a creek or river flowing in. "It is one extreme or the other," DeFoe says.

> By eliminating transition areas, he is able to target a larger class of fish. "It's common knowledge that the biggest fish in the lake are typically the ones that spawn first. As a result, those fish are the first ones to either migrate to the main lake structure or take up residency in the shallows for the remainder of the summer."

> When targeting schools of bass on the main lake, his go-to offerings include a 5" Berkley Hollow Belly swimbait in Tennessee Shad color rigged on a 1/2-oz jighead, a deep-diving crankbait, and a 10" Berkley Power Worm in plum color fished on a Texas-rig.

> "During the summer, I almost always fish a plum-colored worm. I'm not sure why, but a red worm in the summertime just catches fish."

> He throws the swimbait, crankbait, and worm on structure like points and humps, but also targets shell beds and brush piles if he's fishing on a lake where that type of cover is available.

> "Fish that stay shallow during the summer months will hold around whatever cover is available like rock, grass, wood, and overhanging trees." When targeting summertime bass that are living in the shallows, DeFoe opts for a compact Texas-rigged plastic…or a weightless soft plastic shad imitator….

Quote of the Day

Many of the losing streaks I've seen anglers get themselves into are due to their insistence on fishing offshore.

FLWer Dave Wolak. I'm rubbing my eyes but the words are still there…. Also said:

> Bites in deep water often require a more technical approach that relies heavily on electronics, and if you don’t cash in relatively fast, confidence wanes with each unproductive search.

> When in doubt, hit the shallow spots the bass regularly bite around.

What about actually winning tournaments when the big fish are offshore though Dave?? Mebbe he's been talkin' to his therapist too much:
