Peeps really use this prop protector!

pitchfork-prop

From BB reader Rob Dixon: The “prop protector” a few blasters ago that was a pitchfork strapped to the front of the lower unit is a central PA/Susquehanna River specialty. I have had my jon boat with my 5hp motor rigged like that for years. There’s dozens of boats around central PA like that. Backyard ingenuity man!

“You also take out the little lever that holds the motor in place (tilt-wise I’m talking about) so when you hit a rock, the pitchfork guards the prop and the motor just pushes up in the air because it’s not locked in place. You get the benefit of a prop instead of a jet and you still don’t have to worry about rocks.

“I wish I worked for an outboard manufacturer because I’d be able to design the perfect low-horsepower prop outboard for jon boats.”
