Tip of the Day

Mike McClelland: Where to football.

Jigs, that is:

> Secondary points — "Look for any points adjacent to shallow spawning areas because the females will use these areas to recover and get healthy again.”

> Creek channel bars — “These are areas in which the channel of small fingers and pockets intersect with the main creek channel. It creates a high spot—some call it a bar—on which bass will school and aggressively feed."

> Primary points — “These points extend into the main lake or river area and give those bass something they crave — easy access to deep water. They can feed on top of the points or slide off the ends of them when they’re not active."

> River ledges — “…you always want to look for anything that creates a different type of contour. It can be a high spot, a ditch or a small bend or cut in the river channel. These places are prone to have a hard bottom composition, making them a hotspot for football jigs.”

Quote of the Day

I hate going up north and smallmouth fishing just because I’m kind of over that crap.

FLWer Andy Morgan. More:

> There’s too much random luck in it. If you throw out a rod and stick it up in the butt-seat holder of your boat and then fish with another rod, the rod that you have leaning over the side of the boat beats you 90 percent of the time. I don’t like that randomness to it.

> I like to think that I might be able to cast better than someone else. That gives me an advantage. I don’t like throwing a random tube across the bottom. That’s just too much random malarkey.

Did he just say…malarkey?? Last guy used that word was this dude, who's one breath away from "leading" our country:
