If you’re getting the BassBlaster for the first time it’s cuz a bud signed you up!
Today’s Top 5
Buenas tardes hermanos de perca americana! Nos comparten esta imagen desde la presa el Azúcar. Comales Tamaulipas. Municipio de Camargo.
First sentence I believe is “Good afternoon largemouth bass brothers!” Here’s Google translate on the second one: “We share this image from the dam the sugar. Comales Tamaulipas. Municipality of camargo.”
Dam the sugar! Dam it! Okay back to the fish: 9.5 kg = 20.94 lbs. No info on how it was caught, but lots of comments (in Spanish) on the post about wishing it was released. Mexican record maybe?
Here’s NJ homeboy Ray Noreika with 10.8 lbs of green love — melonius! Buff backpacked all day, caught this one on what I’d call finesse gear: 7″ black Power Worm, 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hook, 1/8-oz tungsten, 8-lb Trilene XT. What he said about the line: “Light line in overfished water in Florida is the way to go.” Okay mang!
Not sure how I feel about the only black or white topwater thing. Works, but I feel like the fish see those colors all the time. Plus vegetation bass sorta roll like this:
> “I spent both days of the event fishing grass beds near Aquia Creek. I caught most of my larger bass in the morning each day. The incoming tide in the afternoon made for a tough bite.
> “I used a black Spro Dean Rojas Bronzeye Frog 65 on day 1. I threw it for an hour or two, then the bite slowed down. I picked up a wacky-rigged Yamamoto Senko and fished it the rest of the day. I only had five keepers by the time I weighed in.”
Love the fact that he knew the fish were there, just caught ’em different ways.
“Rod Flexin” is a bassin’ rap tune by a dude who calls himself Hi Speed Chase, from the album “Awh Shucks” dropping in October. It all about BroNeck (like a redneck but a bro).
G got it…
Overstreet posted it — got to wonderin’ if that’s a shot of him as a youngster:

In upper Mississippi River practice. Betting that treble feather wasn’t red before that:
Apparently he was sick of people asking him why he dresses like that, so he bought this T-shirt:
6. WI: What won the recent upper Miss BFL.
Mark Brueggen had 3 small and two large to win it by 2 oz (top 5 were within 1 lb) with 15-11:
> “I started off the day in the middle of Pool No. 9 targeting largemouth in weeds. I was in the backwaters and the water was running high.” …used a black and purple-colored Kureiji swim-jig to catch four keepers.
From what I understand, swim-jigs, C-rigged lizzies and top-walkers are a constant recipe up yonder. Don’t DQ me Trip!
Sounds like a contractor may not have cared…and maybe the TPWD too?
8. 2017 Bassmaster Opens schedule.
Aaaaand once again you can either wade thru 1,027 slides on Bassmaster.com, or see it in list form on Bassin’Fan.
Southerns look good, Centrals good except for Sabine (my 2c) and Northerns have one northern water so basically two more Southerns there. Not banging on B.A.S.S. for the Northerns schedule, I’m sure they have good reasons, but maybe a name change is in order like…ACC Opens?
9. TX: Lake Naconiche turnin’ out some howgs.
10. WV: Build starts on $1.2mm Mon River ramp.
11. Git this Ranger at Angler’s Port Marine.
Here’s a 2011 Ranger Z521 with a 250hp Yammy SHO at only 86 hours and ALL the fixins. They take trades, have other brands too, reach ’em at 660-438-4600.
13. Cool product: YOLOtek AquaStickPOWER.
No words needed except it charges on the stick too:

New ad agency for Berkley Gulp! is named…Yamamoto.
Doh!
Tip of the Day
Most bass-heads color-match their jigs and trailers. But some don’t, like Elitist Jason Christie and FLWer Terry Bolton. Here’s Terry talking about why he does it. Interesting stuff:
Quote of the Day
I knew it was going to be a tough day when I backlashed the toilet paper.
– Jimmy Houston, as quoted in this TFF thread about favorite fishing quotes. Never thought of calling it a backlash…
Shot of the Day
Sweet shot of a Lunkerhunt frog (type unknown, but I’m going with the original Lunker Frog) getting tossed around by a dancing largie:
