Today's Top 5

1. Ike won – and should have.

NEVER in 20+ years of covering this sport have I seen home "lake" advantage be so real as it was this weekend. Mike Iaconelli was the only one of the 100 guys who actually knew how to fish that river. Never seen it before, don't know if we'll ever see it again.

He should've won, knew it and didn't let the gremlins get to him. Good job. And btw: Ike's from Jersey – can this Philly crap!

[Amazing shot above is James Overstreet, below amazing move (Bowman shot) is all Ike. Awesome.]

2. Ike's winning baits.

From the footage I saw in the War Room, Ike's main bait was this:

> A 1/2-oz, small-profile finesse jig, a prototype he’s helping design for Missile Jigs, a new expansion of fellow pro [and Ike roomie] John Crews’ Missile Baits. The color was brown-purple.

> “On this river, over the years, small-profile baits do a lot better (job),” Ike said. He tipped the jig with a high-action Berkley Chigger Chunk in green pumpkin.

Here's a shot of that combo, wrong colors tho:

Bassmaster.com reported his other main bait was a Berkley Havoc Pit Boss in Okeechobee craw (green pumpkin/blue flake) with a 3/8-oz VMC tungsten weight and a 5/0 VMC flipping hook.

3. I am going to ask all the anglers we sponsor if they came here to pre-fish and if they did not why, and there will be consequences, trust me.

– A "he who will not be named" sponsor of Elites at the Delaware River to don barone. Trust me: It wouldn't have mattered. If one of the greatest pre-fishers the world has ever seen (KVD) weighs one keeper in 2 days… #fuggetaboutit

Here are consequences that Trip Weldon has okayed:

4. If New Jersey had pygmies, they'd live back here.

– Hahaha! B.A.S.S.'s Stevie "we ain't in Ar-kansas no mo" Bowman talkin' 'bout where Kevin Short was fishin', waaaaaaay up a creek.

Bowman, we DO have pygmies in Jersey: pygmy squirrels! Here's Ike's:

5. Morizo: Have no limit!

This is one of my favorite pics from the tourney, Seigo Saito shot:

After I saw that I took this shot of Morizo's hat:

Dude is way more serious than he appears, and a heck of a fisherman.

Quote of the Day

It sounded awful!

– My 10-year-old daughter talkin' 'bout the Delaware bass fishery after listenin' to the Elites complain at the check-in dock about the crappy fishing. I told her, they say that at every tournament! Hahahahaha!

Here she is hangin' with Z. Luckily she looks like her mom….

Shot of the Day

Sick Garrick Dixon shot of Jon VanDam, who exited early at the Delaware without weighing a fish.
