Bears DE Willie Young vs. Vikings:
> “That’s the first time going ice fishing in Chicago. I had to cut a hole in the ice. You don’t hold the spinning reel (the) conventional way. You’ve got to hold it kind of backward upside-down.
> “I was able to come away with a little old perch. I thought it was going to be like a muskie or something on an 8-pound-test line, but it didn’t happen.”
First of all this = #dumb IF they are out of bassin’:
> “I’m going to wait a little bit and see exactly what happens because from what I understand, Chevy might be reaching out to some of us (with offers of individual sponsorship deals),” [Jimmy Houston] said.
If they’re out, it happened once before (how Toyota got in at B.A.S.S.). The person who made the decision at Chevy was ousted and they came back with their tail between their legs. #dejavualloveragain?
Chevy pros: Nixon still planning to fish, Houston may retire, more stout fishermen (Yelas, Hibdon, Galgiardi, Thrift) looking for deals…assuming Chevy doesn’t go directly to them.
What do you think of this Mr. Washington?
Oh snap
Huk is the fishin’ clothin’ line endorsed by KVD, Skeet and a few others, but looks like Huk made a move just in case those guys ain’t enough:
Could show you some other pics of that gal, but then you’d have to go to confession….

1. Gator dude T-Roy to fish FLWs.
> “People compete at this level because it’s in their hearts. Not because it’s a job.”
Uh…no, but no biggie man! More important: This means we might need a new nickname for T-Roy Lindner.
3. MN: DNR gives smallies finger again…
…on Mille Lacs:
> …[ice] anglers on Mille Lacs are exempted from the statewide catch-and-release regulation that begins in mid-September. This means anglers may harvest smallmouth bass from the opener until the last Sunday in February. Anglers may keep six fish, only one of which may be longer than 18 inches.
4. KY: HS fishing team having TRYOUTS!
Future Fisherman Foundation:
> …top prize repeating from last year’s successful event is a lunch outing with Ranger Boats’ icons Forrest and Nina Wood in Flippin, AR. Accompanying the lunch package is a half-day fishing trip on nearby Bull Shoals Lake, with the guide handpicked by Forrest.

Tip of the Day
How to choose rod guides.
It ain’t all rod action yo!
> Few fishermen understand the choices to be made by rod companies when it come down to guide selection for a particular line type. Most companies choose to offer rods for different lines to keep everyone happy, but what’s the best choice for you?
> Braid is soft, supple, flexible and slick, and smaller in diameter. So a much smaller ring is fully capable of managing the line flow along the blank.
> Mono and fluorocarbon are stiffer and have pretty hefty diameters in bass sizes of 10- to 20-lb test. So rods with LARGER guide rings are better for mono or fluorocarbon. If the ring is too small, things tend to bunch up rather than flow smoothly through the guides. They just don’t work as well as they should.
> If you think you’ll be casting braid with a new rod, look for one with smaller guides: A mono/fluorocarbon rod may have a 30mm guide to start with, where a braid rod can do the same job with a 20mm – it will handle the line perfectly and save a lot of weight, which will make the rod more sensitive and responsive.
> Of course, you can cast mono through smaller guides, but keep it light. Think in halves: 20-lb braid and 10-lb mono, 15-lb braid and 6-lb mono, etc., should give roughly equal performance.
Quote of the Day
I feel almost invincible.
– A-A-Ron Martens talkin’ in Runners World, a magazine for people who hate Doritos and couches (#justplainwrong). Full quote:
> Our boats go close to 80 miles per hour. You hit five waves a second. Running has strengthened my core, so I no longer feel that jarring. I feel almost invincible.
> Other anglers think I’m crazy. Most are overweight, don’t watch their diets. I eat healthy and run, so they make remarks like, “You only get so many heartbeats!” I’m like, “Dude, are you kidding?”
