Welcome to the BassBlaster, your daily email about all things bassin’. Hey — have you forwarded the BassBlaster to a bassin’ bud yet?!
Today’s Top 5
Hot off the floor of the Icast fishing tackle trade show, here you go, some of my faves from today. Everything I think worthy of bassin’ heads to know about will be posted on bassblaster.bassgold.com…eventually. Here are five things that caught my eye, in no order:
1. Damiki Metal Axe
Cool-looking bait and I can see it working. Plus I still play a “metal axe”…
but not sure they can use the name Bomber? [Update: Apparently the name Bomber was not supposed to be in there, Damiki says.] Anyhow, here you go:
2. New Shimano Calcutta
The only new baitcaster from the makers of the world’s best reels. Here’s a quick look, more later.
3. Lunkerhunt Bento
Saw it, immediately wanted to fish it, that says it all. Sorry for the crappy pic, looks way better in person.
4. Kicker Fish Bubble Fry
Same deal: Saw this, couldn’t wait to put it on a Carolina rig. Funky!
5. Castaic InvisiRig
The first fluorocarbon A/U-rig? Is fluorocarbon necessary? Don’t know, but….
…fluorocarbon may help with the topwater version:
Couple Icast Bonus Items
1. Didn’t know the YUMbrella rig was so small…and therefore so manageable. Really saw it as bigger in my mind. That’s my hand holding one in the package. Definitely is castable. Now looking forward to trying one.
2. Look at this $60 Megabass Balsa Max Long. Honestly, it looks 1000x better in person. Does it look like it’s worth $60? Would you chance breaking off a $60 bait? If you did, would you tell anyone?
We’ll return to the regular set o’ features (tip of the day, quote of the day, etc.) after Icast, meaning Friday or Monday.
