…did not use a single Gambler bait!
Ok not true (Val owns Gambler):
> He caught ’em in the south end using:
and gold), then went back to the Why Not.
> Awesome vid interviews here.
> “I fished two colors throughout the week — junebug shadow blue and gold rush. I used the blue in the dirtier water.”
What weather?
Look at the front of that boat — it’s a circus, with the 2 guys, the dog, the net, the fish…where’s the unicycle and cotton candy??
3rd place Joe Holland — from friggin’ MAINE!!! — won with the Why Not, and 5th place Trevor Fitzgerald flipped the BB Cricket.
One of Holland’s sponsors up there in Maine is Bob’s Yak Farm:
If yer keepin’ score, 7th and 10th used Missile baits. Like I said last week, seems Gambler, Reaction and Missile are the deal in FL.
B.A.S.S. TD Trip “I don’t even smile on my birthday” Weldon (haha just kiddin’ Trip!) said there’s no way anything like “Deflate-gate” is gonna happen at the Classic so he’s doing the following:
1. Conducting tests to make sure that inflating bass won’t increase their weights…or that some bass at check-in won’t be deflated while others will. Reportedly Aaron Martens likes to have his bass inflated to a certain PSI because they ride better in the livewells that way.
2. Ensuring the atmospheric pressure inside livewells is consistent with external atmospheric pressure so that no random bass inflation is possible.
3. Getting Gene Gilliland to do extensive research to find out whether there’s any difference between largie and spot swim bladders.
Trip also said all cowlings will be removed each day to make sure no one stuffed a 300 under a 250 top.
Classic anglers — If you get caught doing anything, just call a press conference, mumble incoherently for 30 minutes and you’ll be fine. #belichickisagenius
Many, many awesome Pats-inspired funnies to insert here but will just give you these:
> On Saturday, Belichick explained that he believes the balls deflated naturally because of the weather and the “rubbing process” that the balls undergo before the game. (from here)
– John-Boy Crews talkin‘ dropshottin’. THANK YOU Crews Missile for stating why dropshotting is more boring than Carolina-rigging. Yep, I said it!!!
Don’t believe me? Here’s a recent attendee at Bass U in a dropshot class:
News
From Japan…with more realistic baitfish patterns (okay not that last part).
Don’t be drinkin’ that in the boat yo.
5. FLWer Sprague gets Bass Kandi.
6. B.A.S.S. gets Golden Moose.
Outdoor Channel award. ONE category for fishing, at least 4 for hunting. WTH??
7. TX: Amistad still not great, but rich.
Check this, from the recent Bassin’ Champs event:
8. FL: Giant Rodman bass bit…a shiner.
Still a nice’n but…
Does this mean Navionics finally wants to understand the biggest fishing market in the werld??
10. TN: Fire wipes out Watson’s Marine.
11. ON waste sliming Lake Erie.
Check out this algae bloom from last summer. It’s huge — this is a satellite photo!
12. TN DOT not doing water any favors.
Shocker.
Tip of the Day
Interesting — more here than meets the eye:
> The bass moved up, sure enough, but they weren’t feeding. All they were doing was enjoying the warmth. I know that sounds strange, but I actually saw some of them. It looked like they were sunbathing.
> As the day wore on, clouds moved in and the wind picked up. This mixed the water and my bite was much better. I know that sounds crazy, but I’ve seen it for years all over the country. It was exactly what I expected.
> Here’s what I’m saying – when you’re faced with…a strong warming trend, don’t expect the bass to move into the shallows and go crazy….they will spend their day enjoying life.
> You can catch a few…you just have to approach them the right way and with the right bait. That starts with knowing where to look for them. In my experience, most of the time they’ll be around some type of cover like a stump or a dock. I think that’s because the cover holds heat, but I can’t say that for sure.

I don’t care how much this bass weighs, it’s freakin’ beautiful and I want to be wherever that weather is. #donewithwinteryo
