> Corbin said the idea of adding bass fishing, at least as a trial, came from watching his own grandchildren fish off the dock near his lakeside home in Windham. He said he was practically laughed out of a council meeting three years ago when he suggested it as a NHIAA sanctioned sport.
> “Then Illinois went out that next year and started it,” Corbin said. “The first year they had over 800 participants and last year it was over 3,000. We have an exploratory committee and we’re trying to grapple with a way to offer it.”
> Through surveys, there are over 1,000 current students across the state that would join a bass fishing team if one was offered.

2. Who’s got their fingers X’d for Chapman?
He’s 2nd after day 1 at Oneida, would’ve been 1st were it not for Ike slamming a crazy huge sack for right now. Something tells me the weights are gonna go up….
Love this shot from yesterday. Ultimately that’s what it’s all about: the walk to the weigh-in. That may be Brent’s wife Bobbi in the background, encouraging him on, can’t tell but it fits.

Couple excerpts from TX warden files, only funny cuz no one got hurt:
1. Montgomery County Wardens Brannon Meinkowsky and Bobby Apple on Aug. 5 stopped a boat for a water safety inspection on Lake Conroe. During the stop, the driver showed signs of intoxication. He claimed to have a back injury, a brain injury, a knee injury, asthma, and suffering from asbestos poisoning.
Officers gave the man seated sobriety tests, which he failed. He provided a breath sample, which indicated a blood/alcohol level of .09. He was arrested for boating while intoxicated and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.
2. Palo Pinto County Game Wardens…were patrolling Possum Kingdom Lake on July 21 when they observed a boat leave Hell’s Gate at a high rate of speed. When the wardens finally got the boat to stop, they observed a female passed out in the back of the boat and two female children in the front.
As Warden Pellizzari spoke with the operator, he noticed that the operator appeared to be intoxicated. The operator said that he was fine and that he’d only downed six beers.
After afloat sobriety tests were administered, the operator was transported to shore for further testing. On shore, the subject informed Warden Pellizzari that he was not going to perform any other tests. Pellizzari placed the subject under arrest for boating while intoxicated (third or more DWI/BWI violation) and transported him to the hospital for a mandatory blood draw.
The female was cited for public intoxication and was released, along with the children, to a responsible adult.
Quote of the Day
In this game, you become known either by winning big tournaments or by being flashy. And the flashy part, that’s just not me.
- AOY leader Brent Chapman. Before that he said: “It was frustrating, knowing I was doing well but still not getting much recognition.”
Shot of the Day
We temporarily interrupt our Oneida stuff to show you what Z did last week. Filimin’ his show – does that look like a time, or what?
