Today's Top 5

1. 11.29-lber on T-Bend.

Here 'tis:

Caught Carolina-rigging a hump with a Zoom Baby Brush Hog (black ruby).

2. TX goes private for fence pandas.

Deal is with the dude using big blue shrimp and other stuff to raise giant basses – love it:

> Texas wildlife officials trying to spawn bigger largemouth bass and lure more anglers have turned to an oral surgeon's private lake to experiment with fish genetics, environment and nutrition.

> "All of our contract lakes where we're monitoring the max size are for 15 years because that's how long it takes for them to get at least that size. They can get there in as short as eight years, but the average lunker is 11 years old. We designed the length of the study to go beyond that."

Here's their inspiration:

3. Champlain Ray-o-Start won south.

Gotta go either north or south for largies, this time it was south:

> Throughout the tournament, Michael Marini focused on largemouths lurking in the lush weedbeds of the fertile, soft-bottomed Ticonderoga area….

> Five-inch, bright-colored Yamamoto Senkos were his weapon of choice, Texas- or wacky-rigged. “I fished them in milfoil in 4½ to 6½ feet of water,” he said.

Would not give the Senko color = #bushleague #RELAX, like it says on that shirt….

Won it by less than 1 lb with 57-07.

4. Lee 4th with smalls.

Big tournaments on Champlain aren't won with just brown fish. Period. Interestingly, that's all AL's Jordan Lee fished for, ended up 4th fishin' Flukes 'n Spooks. Sounds like he was practicing for a career….

5. Why not to fly fish.

Nuff said.

Tip of the Day

Fishing mega-spoons.

How do you fish those mega-spoons – really just one, this mouthful: the Nichols Lures Ben Parker Magnum Flutter Spoon – that were all over the place at the Pickwick FLW this year? Here you go, from Ben himself:

Quote of the Day

A couple of the guys that followed me yesterday were on it.

FLWer Dave Lefebre talkin' 'bout his main spot day 3 of the Champlain FLW. Ended up in 3rd after leading the first 2 days. #thatain'tright

> Lefebre’s tactics hinged on fishing jigs…for largemouths. “I caught most of my fish on a green-pumpkin Terminator jig and Yamamoto Double Tail Grub trailer"…many bass fell for a 4½-inch Storm swimbait as well.
