Today's Top 5

1. A 15 in a livewell….

BB reader Bill from CA went out for 2 horas on Don Pedro a couple weeks ago and backhoed two Kongs into the boat, a 10.54 and a 15.10! Said: "California in the spring, it's hard to beat!"

Dude!

2. Propane outboards now??

Guess makes sense if you're crappie fishing and you can hook a grill to it….

> Lehr’s new 15 and its 9.9 feature the world’s first internal electric start battery weighing less than two lbs, eliminating extra weight or clutter of a typical lead acid battery in the boat.

> It comes in eight 15” or 20” shaft models using a typical 5-gal BBQ propane tank.

> “Propane has so many benefits over gasoline: higher 110 octane and lasts indefinitely, it’s lower in cost, there’s no risk of gas polluting the water, no ethanol or fuel-related issues, zero evaporative emissions, easy no-choke starts, no priming, no carburetor gum-up and no winterizing."

> Lehr also designs and engineers propane-powered generators, leaf blowers, lawn trimmers and lawn mowers.

3. Rat-L-Trap catches mo-nay.

Not a fish, not a turtle, but a bag:

> After bringing the bags on shore, the anglers discovered more than $10,000 inside. The money was stained red from a previously-exploded dye pack. Officials believe that the bags were thrown into the river after a blotched bank robbery last year.

> The anglers were reportedly using a Rat-L-Trap bass lure.

4. Lookit these baits!

Optimum Victory Tails – sweet….

5. Dudley stayin' real.

FLWer David Dudley. Dude's a frickin' crack-up:

I took the kids swimming at the YMCA this morn. During which i was making the most awesome topwater slurping sounds, explosions!! My heart rate was high! I know i'm not the only one to make the sound and dream! it was awesome!

HAHAHA! Would you stand next to that parent?? How 'bout this-a-one:

Tip of the Day

Denny: Prespawn flip/pitchin'.

> Finding the thickest cover…. “I will always cast to the outside edges of the cover first instead of right in the middle of it. If a fish is aggressive, they are going to move that two or three feet to get the bait and you will have a much higher percentage of actually landing the fish."

> "I always think before I start to pitch and flip cover, How am I going to get one out of there? If the fish aren’t really aggressive, sometimes you have to get right into the cover and take your chances.”

> “I will go with the jig over the soft plastic all the way until the fish start to get on beds. I just think the jig catches better quality fish during the prespawn. The only time I may use a plastic over a jig before they spawn is if the lake doesn’t have a large population of quality fish."

> “The Strike King Premier Pro Model jig in either 3/8- or 1/2-oz is what I will use every time. You should always try to use the 1/2-oz if you get away with it because you can be so much more precise with your casting, especially if it's windy. The 3/8 works well when you are fishing really shallow or need that slower fall, and it also doesn’t get buried up in the mud and silt as easily.”
